NaNoWriMo 2011

Well, finally – just edged over the 50,000 word count tonight to finish NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) just ahead of schedule.  For all of you NaNoWriMo’ers out there who are still struggling to cross the finish line, keep the faith – you still have over a week to get the creative juices going and then let the fingers do the flying over the keyboard. But remember one thing, no one fails at this competition, for everyone who writes at least something is a winner.

Now, for me, it is back to the drawing board for my current novel “Night’s Children.” The editor has presented me with some food for thought, so now I can think about it and decide the best avenue to embark upon. Whoever thought that being a writer was easy, must not ever have been a writer! LOL

Have a wonderful night, everyone. Till next time.

Movie Ratings

Well what an experience that was! I was so looking forward to seeing the movie “Puss in Boots” and what made it even more exciting was that my daughter and her husband, along with my two beautiful grand-daughters (5 & 2) were coming to town to see it and had invited grandma to come along. The rating was G for general audience.

Unfortunately, before the show ended, my grand-daughters had to leave because they were so scared of many of the scenes  in the movie.  What I do not understand is why there had to be such violent and scary scenes, and since that was the case with this movie, why was the rating not put as PG with a warning that some scenes might frighten children!

I firmly believe that those who are rating these movies for children, or otherwise, should take more precaution as to the content – and, those who are making children’s movies like this should also take more caution as to the content.

If you agree, or disagree with what I am saying/pointing out here, please comment. Only in numbers voicing their opinions will there be change.

Have a wonderful day, everyone – till next time – Mary M. Cushnie-Mansour
